Your sales letter is one of the key points for your business.It can make or break your business. You can have the best product or service but without good sales copy, you cannot sell anything. Web site visitors are becoming increasingly savvy; hype and hard selling no longer work as they used to. A subtler approach gets good results. Here are some common mistakes found in business ad copy.

Listing features without clarifying benefits is a common mistake. Your prospective buyer is not interested  in what a product looks like, no matter how fancy it may be. He is looking for the answer to his big question: “What’s in it for me?” In other words. how will the product or service you are offering help them? Will it solve an ongoing problem? Fill a pressing need? Or satisfy a yearning? Benefits will answer these questions and more.

Negative “trigger words” will have the opposite effecct. For example “low income” or “failure” generates a subconscious feeling of depression and sadness in a reader and deters him from buying. People buy more when they are in an upbeat mood. Be careful how you write your sales letteror even a small ad. Words are very powerful in copywriting and will make or break the sale. As all good copywriters will tell you, selling is all about understanding your visitors’ mindset.

Excessive use of punctuation, especially the exclamation point and sometimes the question mark, distracts the readerr and is a turn-off for sales. Respect your reader’s intelligence and do not belittle your reader with this unprofessional technique.

Too much capitalization is also unprofessional and has the same effect. Capitalization is interpreted as shouting a word. Do you want to be shouted at? I am sure this does not put you in a buying mood.

Always write with creditability in mind. It’s important in persuading your prospective buyer. Unusual fonts and color combinations will take away from your sales copy and leave an unfavorable impression. Make sure the font is a normal size. Style of font should be Ariel, Times Roman, Veranda, or something similar. Do not make a sales letter in fancy type as it will distract your reader. Selling art work and cartoon drawings may be an exception to this rule.

The golden rule of making good sales copy is to write as if you are talking to a friend. Be friendly but not overly familiar. Put yourself in your reader’s shoes and sell as you would like to be sold to.

The introductory paragraph tells why writing an article is important, because you can use it as a vehicle for free advertising. You can end the paragraph with a question or statement to make your readers think about your article.

A step-by-step article will show your readers how to do something, for example “How to start a business in seven easy steps” You would use the same principles as the tip article, but instead of tips you would bullet the steps and then go into detail.

A review will be about a particular product or book giving the benefits and the flaws and your opinion. You would use the same guidelines for your heading, introduction, and conclusion. The body would not have bullets but would be written on these same guidelines.

If you follow these points you will be able to write articles and, with practice, good ones. Start with short tip articles and when you are confident go on to step-by-step. When you are really confident, go on to reviews and general articles. You will be surprised how quickly you will learn to write attention-grabbing articles.

It’s Not Just What You Say, It’s How You Say it.

So you can put information on your site in lots of different ways. That information will always be the most important aspect of your site, the reason that it will bring in users and succeed or be ignored and fail. But style plays a role, too.

I’m not going to make too big a thing about this, because the easiest way to destroy any business is to be someone you’re not. Whether someone sees me on stage at a conference, tweets me on Twiitter, reads my blog, or meets me face-to-face, they’re getting me. This is the way I am. Not everyone likes it. Some people think I’m too forthright in my views. That’s their opinion. I have mine, and I’m not going to try to be something I’m not not just to please everyone. That’s the surest way to please no one.

When you’re creating content for your web site, give it your voice. Don’t try to write as though you’re creating an article for Fox News or hoping to sell it to Cosmopolitan. Picture your best friend in the room with you, and write as though you’re explaining what you want to say to him or her. Informality might look strange in the New York Times, but it works great on the Web.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t plan what you’re going to say. You should still do that. But you should write the way you speak. It’s the easiest way to make sure that your site carries your voice and personality and that the content is clear.

Once you’ve written the article, putit to one side, then go over it before you post. Look for typos, run it through a spell-check, and delete any repetitions. They can make an important difference to the flow. There’s a reason reporters will write “Steve Jobs” in one sentence and “the CEO of Apple” in the next. Another place to look is in Warrior Forum’s where you can post what your looking for and someone will respond to your post. This site you can negotiate a price for what you want done. For instance I give them a keyword and they write an article that I get 100,000 views for and over 8500 clicks. This is a great 8.5% click through ratio and the cost is very little. If you like writting articles then do them yourself and outsource other projects.

The key to outsourcing is to do what you like and what you don’t like pay someone to do it for you. This is a great way to leverage your time and money. If you owned a business you wouldn’t be doing all the daily task. So treat your Network Marketing business the same way and Outsource some projects.
