Here are seven ways you can use e-mail to generate income. Remember Attention, Interest, Desire and Action (AIDA) are the four principles marketers use in sales letters and can be used in lucrative e-mail marketing.

1. Subscription newsletter. Prospects and customers often want to hear about someone’s news, product, service, ideas and tips. One way to supply this information is via a paid subscription e-mail newsletter.

2. Paid advertisements. Include paid advertisements in your e-mail newsletter (paid subscription or fee). Many companies, individuals and entreprenuers market to the same people you target. Charging these people for advertising space in your newsletter generates income for you.

3. Direct mail. You can use e-mail the same way you would use traditional printed direct mail. Market your products and services to your opt-in list (a list of people who have given you permission to send them e-mail).

4. Software. Using software or a service like “Constant Contact,” you can automatically send e-mails to your permission-based list on a regular and predetermined timetable (once a week, once a month, or once every two weeks). Programs like this are vital to effectively market online. Such a service will help you market and close sales even while you are sleeping.

5. Online learning. Online learning is becoming increasingly popular. Creating fee-based educational lessons (e-courses) is another way to make money via e-mail. You can even use software, as described above, to automatically deliver the lessons.

6. Create a database. Use the e-mail list to create a great database. Collect as much information as you can about the person. You can sell this information over and over. The more information you abtain about the owner of that e-mail address, the more money you can make from slicing and dicing that list to sell to others.

7. Surveys. Do surveys for others or for yourself, then sell or package the responses into categories that other e-mail marketers will want to buy from you.
